Inquiry continues after bombs found at Burntwood building site
A sweep of a building estate in Burntwood where two bombs were found has uncovered no more explosives but the full investigation will not be completed for a week.
Taylor Wimpey, which is building 351 homes at the land off Milestone Way, confirmed half of the site had been checked so far.
It comes after an unexploded device had been found at the end of February during development works on an adjacent industrial site on the same piece of land.
This followed a single mortar bomb being discovered on March 10.
A spokesperson on behalf of Barratt Homes and Taylor Wimpey said: "A specialist investigator is in the process of carrying out a full inspection of the site using electromagnetic detection equipment.
"Around half of the site has been checked so far with no further devices found, and the inspection is expected to be completed next week."
The site was once the home of ES Smith, a firm that recovered war scrap, including weaponry.
Developers Barratt Homes and Taylor Wimpey have halted work on the site whilst the investigation is underway.
When complete, it will include 351 homes, made up of a selection of two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses.
