Staffordshire Police were called to Thorn Close at 4pm on Tuesday after calls from concerned residents.

A police spokesman said: "We received calls from two concerned residents from Thorn Close, Rugeley, on Tuesday afternoon, reporting two males acting suspiciously in the area.

"The men were seen around 4pm to 4.30pm looking through windows and cars.

"Patrols attended the location and an area search proved negative. Advice and reassurance was given to concerned residents and they were advised to ring police if they saw the men return."

Rugeley has been blighted by burglaries and in the last few months especially around Christmas, although there is no connection to the latest incidents.

One of the more high-profile break-ins saw war medals and more than 30 items of jewellery stolen from a home in St Michael's Road. Coulthwaite Way, Setterfield Way are among other streets which have been targeted in the town.

Yesterday police issued a warning to residents and security advice after another spate of thefts in the Cannock and Hednesford areas.
