@urinewatch: 'Last roll of the dice' to flush out urinating yobs

"Putting this on Twitter was just the last desperate roll of the dice, because we really aren't sure what can be done."

A business owner who took to social media in an effort to shame yobs urinating on a car park overlooked by his podiatry clinic 'day in, day out' has spoken of his frustration with the persistent anti-social behaviour.

Chris Norton, who runs the Norton Podiatry and Chiropody Clinic on Bradford Street, Walsall, set up the Twitter account @urinewatch to highlight the scale of the problem he is facing to the general public and council bosses.

The Express & Star revealed earlier this week that Mr Norton used the account to post pictures taken from CCTV footage of the louts urinating on the car park in broad daylight, in view of passers by.

He said: "This has been going on for a while but I didn't realise the scale of the problem until I got the CCTV put in.

"It is happening every single day and it is only a small group of people.

"They turn up with their cans of beer and sit by the wall on the car park for hours on end, using the wall as a toilet.

"I have spoken with the council and asked them to take action, but they have to catch them in the act.

"Even then, it is a private car park, but still, members of the public can see them doing it, they don't even attempt to hide it."

Walsall Council has said it has officers who are in the process of gathering evidence to determine what action can be taken and the police have been contacted with foot patrols by officers being planned.

Mr Norton believes the culprits have pretended not to speak English when they have been approached.

He said: "I have been told by members of the public who have challenged these people that they responded by saying they can't speak English.

"They use the Polish shop that has recently opened up to get their beer, so they may be Polish themselves.

"It seems as though approaching them doesn't work, nor does getting the council to look into it.

"I set up the Twitter as a last desperate roll of the dice, because we really aren't sure what can be done now, if they go somewhere else they will just come back.

"What I have shared on Twitter is just the start, there is much more than that what I could put on there."

Since the account was set up, a number of tweets have been sent out, 'tagging' Walsall Council and local councillor Aftab Nawaz.
