Urine trouble! CCTV shames yobs as pictures posted on social media
Yobs urinating at a derelict car park in Walsall town centre have been shamed with their pictures posted on social media.
A worker based next to the car park of the former M Latif & Sons branch in Bradford Street has shared CCTV images of the culprits on Facebook.
The new social media account, 'urine watch', is regularly posting CCTV images of the public urinators with the apt hashtag 'walsallwee'.
A total of 10 images have been posted by the account at the time of writing, featuring a range of males urinating up against a wall which has the word 'welcome' written across it.
According to the Twitter account, the incidents are taking place at the car park off Bradford Street. It has been unused since M Latif & Sons closed its branch next door.
The account was established at the back end of last week and describes itself as 'public urinators on show'.
When contacted, the author of the account said it was getting to a point 'where at least three people' were urinating in the spot on a daily basis.
He said: "I own the podiatry clinic next door to where the drunks congregate.
"Walsall Council and police are aware of the problem, but it's getting to a point now where at least three people urinate in public and I've caught two women defecating in the daytime in the car park. Not a pretty sight."
Walsall council, which has been informed of the incidents, has slammed the culprits.
Officers are in the process of gathering evidence to determine what action can be taken.
The council claims to have contacted the police, with foot patrols by officers planned.
Councillor Adrian Andrew, the deputy leader of Walsall Council, said: "I'm appalled to hear about this disgusting behaviour. We were only made aware of the problem on Friday and officers are gathering evidence to determine what action we will take to tackle it.
"We've alerted the police who are making plans to step up their foot patrols whilst we look for a solution to this wholly unacceptable situation".
Since the account was set up, a number of tweets have been sent out.
The first, accompanying a picture of a male in a full grey Adidas tracksuit walking past the welcome sign, said: "They don't see the point in using toilets, and don't care who sees them peeing."
Next was a black and white image of two hooded males by the sign, with the caption: "Why pee alone when you can do it together #walsallpissers."
The tweets continued over the weekend, one even joking that a toilet should be installed in the now apparent popular spot.
