WATCH: Boyfriend caught on the hop by trampoline leap year proposal

A woman jumped at the chance to propose to her boyfriend this leap year – and picked the perfect location to pop the question.

Lisa Moran, aged 37, chose the Air Space trampoline centre in Wolverhampton as the venue when she decided to ask partner Asa Greenway, 39, to marry her.

The couple, of Perton, who have been together for 18 months, had joked earlier in the week about a possible proposal from Lisa on the traditional date, though Asa was none the wiser.

"I said to her, if you're going to do it, do it big, I want the whole she-bang, flowers, champagne, down on one knee, everything," said Mr Greenway.

Lisa decided she would pop the question at the recently opened trampoline park, as the pair go there at least every two weeks.

Once Lisa came up with the unusual idea for the proposal, she secretly invited friends and family to attend the venue to hold placards asking the question.

Michelle Green, Lisa's sister, said: "Originally, she had suggested she may want to do it at Ironbridge, but the weather had been bad so she decided against it. She popped round to mine on the day and she was so nervous."

The pair were also joined by Asa's parents, younger brother Dean Greenway, his wife Becky and their son Jackson, five.

Becky said: "Lisa told us she wanted to do something memorable, and leap into it – now we know what she meant!

"I'm pleased that Jackson could be involved as well, it's like a proper joining together of both families."

Asa's parents, Jane and Richard James, of Hawksmoore Drive, Perton, helped hold banners at the proposal. Mr James said: "Well, it's certainly very different. She came to ask for our permission and of course we said yes!"

Asa's best friend Karl Welsh set up a group on messaging service Whatsapp to contact all the friends and family that were involved and worked closely with Lisa to get everything ready for the day. He said: "We've all been involved in each other's weddings. We all went to Perton then Codsall school and have known each other for more than 10 years."

Operations coordinator at Air Space, Sheila Cook, said that the proposal was the first of its kind at the centre, and that they only had two days to put everything together.

"Lisa came in with the idea and after discussion I thought, 'right, let's do this'," she said.

Family and friends watch on

"It took a lot of planning so that Asa didn't run into his family before the proposal. I even went out to get the pair some champagne as a gift, but then it turns out Asa doesn't drink, so I think that'll all be for Lisa!" The couple continued their hour-long session at the centre after the proposal.

And they say they will continue to visit up to their wedding day, which they are now planning.

"It'll definitely hold some special memories for us now!" Lisa said. "She doesn't do things by halves," Asa added. "In fact, I think that's a bit of an understatement!"
