JAILED: Man who groomed young girl from age of 11 and had sexual relationship with her
A man who had a sexual relationship with a young girl after grooming her from the age of 11 has been locked up for two years and ten months.
Sundeep Pudden, a £50,000-a-year engineer, wrecked the life of the victim, a judge was told.
The 46-year-old defendant admitted two charges of indecent assault and one of indecency with a child committed between 1992 and 1996, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.
Mr Anthony Potter, prosecuting, said Pudden secretly gave her a mobile phone which he used to develop the illicit relationship behind the backs of her parents.
"It was a thoroughly inappropriate relationship," concluded Mr Potter. But it did not come to light until years later when the victim contacted police.
By that time the man had been jailed for a year after being convicted of ten counts of making indecent photographs of children, it was said.
Miss Amanda O'Mara, defending Pudden of Glen Court, Compton, conceded that he had groomed the victim.
Judge Andrew Lockhart QC told the culprit: "You were a young man at the time of these offences but were fully aware of what was right and wrong. This has had a severe psychological impact on the injured party."
