Buses replacing trains this weekend between Rugeley and Walsall
Trains will be replaced by buses between Rugeley and Walsall this weekend as works continue on the multi-million pound Chase Line electrification scheme.
Today the line will be closed between Rugeley Trent Valley and Walsall and tomorrow the closure will extend beyond the borough to Tame Bridge Parkway.
London Midland spokesman Francis Thomas said: "The works are all to do with preparing for the electrification.
"Fewer people travel at weekends, we try to choose times when disruption can be minimised. Ultimately everyone benefits because electrified lines are cleaner, faster and allow for more people on the trains."
The electrification works, which have also seen rail bridges reconstructed across the 15-mile stretch, are set to be completed by December 2017.
Speed on the line will be increased from 45mph to up to 75mph.
