Nearly 100 residents marked the life of Sister Dora at a moving ceremony at St Paul's Church.
Afterwards, there was a procession to the statue of Sister Dora – who has been called Walsall's Lady of the Lamp –on The Bridge and flowers and wreaths were laid.
Angie Greenwood, a Sister Dora nurse, funded by the Friends Group at St Giles Hospice, said: "I think as a nurse it makes you think about your job and what you do for your patients."
