Homes on way at arson-hit Cannock pub
The site of a former pub in Cannock will be redeveloped into 16 homes.
Plans have been approved to build a two storey building with the assisted living apartments at the former Golden Age Public House in Moss Road.
As well as the apartments, the site will also feature parking for residents and open space.
The pub, located on Moss Road, closed early in 2008 and was hit by vandals and arsonists later in the year.
It was demolished several years later but the land has since sat derelict and has become a 'dumping ground', according to local residents.
The land sits in the Cannock East Ward and local councillor Tony Johnson has welcomed the development.
He said: "I very much welcome the site development because its been an eye sore for many years.
"A number of residents have complained about the site which they say has becoming a dumping ground so the development is very much welcomed.
"It's about time this site was development."
However Councillor Johnson said the traffic flow issues between Moss Road and Moss Street must be looked at.
Adding: "It isn't an unsolvable problem but I would like to see some consideration put into it."
