Fire crews from Haden Cross Fire Station were called to the blaze off Cradley Road, in Netherton, on Saturday at around 5pm.

It is believed that the blue Ford Focus had been dumped before the fire started.

Firefighters were alerted after a customer at the Elephant and Castle pub called about a fire on nearby wasteland.

Haden Cross Watch Commander, John Williams, said: "The car was severely on fire when we got there.

"We had received a call from someone at the pub just before 5pm to attend a fire on some wasteland just off a public footpath up the road from the Elephant and Castle pub.

"It took us just under 20 minutes to put the fire out.

"It was a light blue Ford Focus that looked liked it had been dumped there by youths who may have then set fire to it.

"The last registered owner of the car was actually from Welshpool.

"Nobody was injured."
