Jamar Walker murder: Accused appears in court over 15-year-old's Smethwick stab death

A teenager from Smethwick charged with the murder of 15-year-old Jamar Walker has appeared at crown court.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, attended Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday for a preliminary hearing.

He is accused of murdering Jamar and the attempted murder of a 17-year-old in Raglan Road, Smethwick, on December 20.

The 17-year-old accused has been remanded into a young offenders' institution.

He will next appear at the crown court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on February 8.

The tragedy unfolded close to The Puffing Billy pub which was cordoned off

A provisional two-week trial has been pencilled in to start on June 6.

Jamar died from stab injuries, while the other victim survived a stab wound to his lower back.

The 17-year-old accused was arrested on Tuesday and charged with the two counts late on Wednesday night, before appearing in Wolverhampton Youth Court on Thursday morning.

The attack on Jamar and the injured 17-year-old occurred in Raglan Road, near the Cape Hill Medical Centre, at around 2.20am.
