New low speed limit for Staffordshire schools
A 20mph speed limit has been imposed outside more than a dozen Staffordshire schools.
Among them are West Hill Primary and Staffordshire University Academy in Hednesford, Boney Hay Community Primary in Burntwood as well as Tittensor First and St Leonard's First School in Stafford.
Speed indication displays were installed at all of the schools on Monday and will be in place until Easter.
The move is part of Staffordshire County Council's '20 is Plenty' campaign which sees the signs put up at 16 different schools in the county every term.
Highways and transport boss Councillor Mark Deaville said: "Keeping roads and school children safe remains our top priority and our roads continue to be amongst the safest in the country.
"This is one of many initiatives we operate that targets drivers reminding them not to put pupils lives at risk by driving above 20 miles an hour.
"We also hope that the scheme will encourage more parents and children to walk, cycle or scoot to school which helps people lead healthier lives and reduces the amount of traffic on the roads at school times."
