Detectives arrested the man on suspicion of murder after the body of a 59-year-old man was found dead at the flat last night.

Officers were called to the flat in Forge Road at around 7.05pm yesterday by a concerned neighbour.

Police attended and forced the door open and found the man with injuries – he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation was immediately launched and a 33-year-old man was arrested from another address in Forge Road later in the evening. He remains in police custody today after police were given an extra 36 hours to question him.

Detective Inspector Martin Slevin, from Force CID, said: "We are still in the early stages of piecing together exactly what happened and would ask anyone with information to come forward and contact us.

"At this stage it appears the offence has happened inside the flat and a forensic post mortem examination will take place in due course."

Anyone with information that could help the investigation should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
