One man stabbed and another knocked unconscious in violence near Great Barr pub

A man was stabbed in the chest and another was knocked unconscious today when violence erupted near a Black Country pub.

Both men are in a stable condition after the fight near the Old Horns pub in Great Barr in the early hours.

Police were called shortly before 1am to reports of a 'large fight' near the pub in Queslett Road.

Officers found a 22-year-old local man who had been stabbed in the chest and a 20-year-old man, who also lives locally, had been knocked unconscious.

Both were taken to hospital where there condition is described as stable.

Detective Constable Rich Stanley, from Force CID, said: "Two families have had their Christmas day ruined by the attack, but we're working hard to find out what happened and who is responsible."

The area was cordoned-off while forensic experts conducted their search for evidence.

CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed, witnesses spoken to and house-to-house inquiries conducted.
