The motorway will be closed eastbound from Junction 3 at Cosford to Junction 2 at the i54 from 8pm until 6am tomorrow.

Joe Wilson, spokesman for Highways England, said: "It is resurfacing work that we're doing overnight on Junctions 3 to 2 eastbound."

Work began at the start of the month to repair concrete slabs in the carriageway after cracks were discovered in the road surface.

Some of the work was carried out under partial closures, but the carriageway was completely closed for several nights in a bid to get the repair work done as quickly as possible.

A diversion will be in place via the A41 northbound, the A5 eastbound towards Weston-under-Lizard, and the A449 southbound towards the M54 to rejoin at Junction 2. Drivers should follow the solid black square symbol.
