M6 closed in both directions as man threatens to jump
The M6 was closed in both directions after a man threatened to jump on to the carriageway.
The motorway was closed northbound between Junction 9 Wednesbury and 11 Cannock from just before 7pm.
Southbound, it was shut between Junction 12 Cannock and 10 Walsall.
Central Motorway Police tweeted shortly after 10pm to say that the incident had been resolved.
The incident caused long delays for drivers stuck on the motorway and surrounding roads.
West Midlands Police said: "A man threatening to jump from a bridge over the M6 forced closure of the motorway last night from just after 6.40pm until shortly before 10pm causing considerable disruption to the motorway network and neighbouring routes.
"The man was detained by officers under the Mental Health Act."
