Rising costs and a fire that caused £750,000 worth of damage has put the future of BCR Global Textiles Limited, based in Oldbury, in severe doubt.

Directors of the firm, which runs clothes banks around the UK, have filed notice of intention to appoint administrators.

The company, which ran its banks with consent of local authorities and charities, has already made all its staff redundant.

The proposed administrators, insolvency practitioners Poppleton & Appleby, are now assisting the directors.

P&A director Andy Turpin said interest had already been shown in parts of the business.

He said: "The business has been hit by a combination of factors which have made it impossible to continue trading.

"It was hit by a fire three years ago, which cost the business around £750,000."
