Having parked his car Ivan Tranter was walking across the car park of Russells Hall Hospital when he was struck by a car reversing into a space.

The 83-year-old from Kingswinford received treatment for a head injury and was later released from hospital.

Unfortunately he took a turn for the worse and was taken to a Birmingham hospital, but died on Friday as a result of his injuries.

His daughter Christine, said: "My dad was a very loving father to me and a loving husband to my mum Beatrice.

"He was a very private and proud man and he will be missed dreadfully.

"He was the light of my life."

Officers investigating the crash have spoken to the driver and are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

PC Mark Crozier, from West Midland Police's Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We believe that this happened at around 11am on Tuesday, November 3. We have trawled CCTV and now need any passing motorists or pedestrians who were there at the time to come forward.

"They may have seen something that could help our investigation.

"It appears that Mr Tranter's condition deteriorated following the collision and he died as a result of the injuries sustained.

"Our thoughts remain with the family at this sad time."
