Letters, emails and text alerts have been sent to all parents and carers informing them of the temporary closure of the Highfields School in Boundary Way, Penn.

Headteacher Mark Capel said he expected the school to re-open tomorrow.

He added: "There has been a water pump failure, which means we have been left with no water supply and cannot provide suitable toilet or washing facilities for students and staff.

"Engineers are due to come out this afternoon to fix the problem and we are hoping the school will be open as usual tomorrow.

"We will keep all parents and carers informed as the day progresses. Thank you for your understanding."

A Year 11 trip to Light House Cinema in Wolverhampton will still be going ahead, with pupils now due to return back to school at 4pm.
