Engine ripped out of car in spate of Midlands crashes

[gallery] A car's engine was ripped out as it hit a wall in Aldridge and overturned in the early hours of today. Two of the four men inside were taken to hospital.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called out to Brickyard Road shortly after 2.15am.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said there were four men in the car, all in their twenties.

"One man had a cut to his head, another had back and neck pain. Following treatments at the scene they were both taken to Walsall Manor Hospital," he said.

"The two other men in the car were uninjured and discharged at the scene."

Meanwhile, two cars overturned in icy conditions on Stafford Road, Eccleshall, at 7.50pm yesterday. Nobody was injured.
