Let it snow? West Midlands braces for more winter weather
Snow, sleet and gale force winds are heading towards the West Midlands.
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning, with gusts expected to reach speeds of 50 to 60mph on Friday evening.
The gale force winds will be accompanied by bands of snow and sleet as the cold weather moves southwards.
Snow may settle overnight, while ice and frost are also expected as temperatures gradually drop to below freezing.
The likelihood of sufficient snow for sledging and snowmen is limited, however.
A few centimetres of snow is expected in hilly areas, but at lower levels any settling is likely to be temporary.
High winds will remain in place until Saturday afternoon, but any one area should only be affected for a few hours.
Temperatures will drop to the lowest of the season so far and will remain cold until Sunday.
Chris Hogan, from MeteoGroup, said conditions will deteriorate into Saturday morning.
He said: "Early on Saturday, you're looking at temperatures pretty much near zero or one across the whole country."
There will be a drop-off in minimum temps of up to five degrees.
Mr Hogan said: "This cold snap is probably not going to last too long, but obviously it's late November - it's not like it's going to become tropical."
The Met Office has issued a yellow 'be aware' warning for high northwesterly winds - the same level as was issued for Storm Barney.
Residents are encouraged to keep an eye on the latest forecast and prepare for travel plans to be disrupted.
Trees and branches are likely to fall and motorists are warned to drive carefully as conditions become increasingly hazardous.
The Met Office said: "Please be aware of the likelihood of some difficult driving conditions and possible travel disruption."
The cold snap comes just days after Storm Barney wreaked havoc around the UK and left debris scattered around the West Midlands.
