Pedestrian who died in Wolverhampton crash named

A pedestrian who died after being hit by a car on Birmingham New Road in Wolverhampton earlier this month has been named as Paul Martin.

Mr Martin was 69 and lived in Florence Avenue, Lanesfield. He was hit on November 5.

Mr Martin was taken by ambulance to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries after the crash, which happened at around 6.30pm.

Following the incident police sealed off the road in both directions between the junctions of Spring Lane and Ward Grove.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigated. Traffic backed up along Ettingshall Road and on to the A41 Bilston Road as a result of the accident. There were also long queues of traffic out of the city centre heading towards Dudley.
