But what made Stewart Samuel Hollyoake veer from the carriageway will probably never be known, police have admitted.

His inquest heard that no other vehicle was involved in the accident and Mr Hollyoake was confirmed dead at the scene.

But as there were no witnesses to the crash, it will be very difficult to fully establish what happened, the hearing was told.

Mr Hollyoake's heartbroken wife Dawn has paid a loving tribute to a 'fantastic husband, father and son'.

Mr John Ellery, senior coroner for Shropshire, concluded that Mr Hollyoake, 52, of Weavers Rise in Netherton, West Midlands, Dudley, died from multiple injuries from the crash on the B4368 in Shipton near Much Wenlock on July 30.

Pc Ian Edwards, from West Mercia Police's collision investigation unit based in Shrewsbury, told the hearing that only one vehicle, Mr Hollyoake's motorcycle, had been involved in the collision.

Pc Edwards, who attended the scene of the crash and conducted an examination afterwards, said he would 'never know precisely' what caused the crash because there were no witnesses but had other possible explanations that could have contributed to it.

He said: "One reason could have been a dog or a wild animal in the road but it could also have been the road configuration and his attention at that moment, he could have misread the road at that time."

Mr Ellery told Mr Hollyoake's family members that as the result of the finding of the post mortem carried out on him, his death would have been instantaneous and that he would not have suffered.

Giving a conclusion that Mr Hollyoake, died from multiple injuries due to a road traffic collision, Mr Ellery said: "My condolences go to the family.

"As nobody witnessed the collision we can't be sure what caused it but I can give a conclusion of road traffic collision."

His wife said: "Stewart was loved by everyone and is sadly missed so much by everyone. He will be forever in my heart.

"Just over three months later I still can't believe he's gone, he was a helpful, kind, wonderful person whose loss is so felt.

"He was a thoughtful, loving, fantastic husband, father and son."

The couple, who would have been married for 33 years this year, have one son together.

Mrs Hollyoake added: "It was Stewart's wish to see our son John engaged to his now fiancée Tracie and now they are. He always wanted him to put a ring on her finger."

She paid tribute to her husband as an his inquest was held at Shirehall in Shrewsbury.

Mr Hollyoake's brother-in-law Wayne Shaw previously paid tribute to him.

He said: "He was loving and helpful – the type of bloke who would always be there for you if you were in trouble.

"Stewart loved his family. He lived life how he wanted to live it and was a proud man. He looked after his mum.

"He was also a really funny guy, he had a wicked sense of humour."

Mr Shaw, Mr Hollyoake and a group of their friends regularly went out riding together on weekends.

"The love of bikes brought us together," he said. "I loved Stewart as a brother-in-law but he was also a close friend.

"We've been on six overseas trips with the same gang of fellas. Stewart had his own family but a biking family as well.

"Before he got into bikes he was really into scuba diving and used to do that with his wife Dawn around the world. But motorbikes took over from everything else."
