Staffordshire fire chief furious over assaults on crews
Firefighters in Staffordshire were attacked in two separate incidents – but the fire service is refusing to say when and where the assaults happened.
Staffordshire Chief Fire Officer Peter Dartford said the attacks were under investigation.
Mr Dartford added no assaults against staff would be tolerated. He said: "A firefighter's job is to protect the community. It is a role that our firefighters take extremely seriously.
"For a firefighter to be attacked by members of the community in which they serve is deeply shocking."
"Not only could these attacks have seriously injured a firefighter and prevented or delayed a crew from dealing with the incident they had been called out to, it could also have put members of the public's lives at risk.
"This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue. If anyone has any information regarding the identity of any individual involved in an attack on a firefighter, I would urge them to do the right thing and contact the police."
