Woman critical after Staffordshire smash
A woman is critically ill in hospital following a crash on a busy Staffordshire road.
A red Fiat Punto and a yellow Fiat Panda were involved in the crash, which resulted in the closure of the A513 near Shugborough, Stafford, for several hours.
The driver of the Punto, a 28-year-old woman from Stafford, suffered serious injuries. Her condition today was described as critical but stable.
The collision just before noon on Thursday closed the road from Wolseley Bridge to Shugborough until about 4.30pm while emergency services worked at the scene.
The other driver, a woman aged 78, also from Stafford, suffered only minor injuries. Both were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment.
Staffordshire Police say the Punto was travelling towards Rugeley and the Panda towards Stafford when the collision occurred.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call them on 101.
