Boxing star Ray 'Boom Boom' Mancini tells of glory and heartbreak
He was the golden boy of boxing - but his career was changed forever when an opponent died just days after a bout, sparking a battle with depression.
Ray 'Boom Boom' Mancini was in Cannock to share his colour life story with fans and fellow boxers.
The former World Lightweight Champion is probably best known for the infamous fight against South Korean boxer Deuk Koo Kim, who died from severe brain injuries after the fight at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
At Bar Sport's Premier Suite the boxer spoke of the tragic fight as well as the highs he experienced in his rise in the sport.
Scott Murray, owner of Bar Sport's Premier Suite, said: "It was just a surreal night that somehow managed to exceed all of my expectations.
"He was great with the fans, posing for pictures and taking the time to talk with them, but his speech was amazing.
"He was my favourite fighter growing up, so to think now that not only have I met him, but he has come to Cannock as my guest, it is amazing.
"It was a once in a lifetime thing for me.
"The night all round was perfect, it is great for people in Cannock to get to see some of the biggest names in sport on their doorstep.
"Ray said he loved the area because it reminded him of Ohio, where he was born."
Mancini's appearance marks the latest in a long line of stars to visit the Cannock bar.
Other legends to appear include former five weight world boxing champion and Olympic gold medallist Sugar Ray Leonard and five-weight world champion Tommy 'The Hitman' Hearns.
Former cruiserweight and heavyweight world champion Evander Holyfield has also been a guest at the venue along with two weight World Champion Nigel Benn.
