Taxi passenger charged with attacking cabbie after being asked to clear up own vomit

A taxi passenger has been charged with assaulting a cabbie, and smashing up his car with a hammer, after being asked to clean up his own vomit from the back seats.

Charlie Jones, from Goscote Place in Coalpool, is set to appear before Walsall magistrates next month accused of attacking the driver in Bloxwich Road North, Short Heath, on Sunday evening.

It is also alleged the 19-year-old later kicked a West Midlands Police dog – five-year-old German shepherd Ivan – which was deployed to the scene to help track the suspect.

Scrap metal dealer Jones is due to appear at Walsall Magistrates Court on November 24 where charges of criminal damage; possessing an offensive weapon; racially-aggravated assault; causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal; and using threatening, abusive or insulting words will formally be put to the teenager.
