Cyclist dies after collision with van near Lichfield
A cyclist has died after colliding with a van near near Lichfield.
The cyclist, a 46-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The accident happened at Birmingham Road near Wall Island, Lichfied, at around 8.45pm last night.
The man entered cardiac arrest and could not be saved despite the efforts of bystanders and paramedics.
The driver of the white Ford Transit van, also male, was treated at the scene for the effects of shock.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson Jamie Arrowsmith said: "Bystanders were already administering CPR prior to our arrival.
"Ambulance staff took over and began giving advanced life support but unfortunately it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
