Two prescriptions were taken from the van, one of which was the anti-cancer drug methotrexate which is extremely dangerous to touch and can cause serious injury or even death if ingested by children or animals.

The 16 yellow tablets are in a small brown click lock bottle and if found should be handed in to a pharmacy or local police station as soon as possible. The bottle itself must not opened.

The van was stolen from Gough Road, Dudley just before 10am yesterday morning, and was found in the Bradley area of Bilston a short time later.

Superintendent Mike O'Hara from Wolverhampton Police, said: "This is an extremely dangerous drug which will cause serious harm if touched or ingested. We would appeal to whoever took this medication to hand it in as soon as possible. It is worth reminding people that all prescription medicines can have dangerous side effects if taken without being specifically prescribed by a doctor."

Anyone with information about the theft should contact Wolverhampton Police on 101.
