Properties came under fire in Long Lane and Narrow Lane.

Police chiefs said it was fortunate nobody was seriously hurt and have launched an investigation following the attacks.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who saw what happened or a blue Ford Focus in the area at the time to come forward.

The shootings happened at around 10.15pm on Friday. The streets are a short distance from each other.

Detective Peter Miller, from the force's CID, said: "We continue to piece together the circumstances around the events of Friday night and we are trawling CCTV to gather evidence.

"It is only by chance that no-one was seriously hurt. We are led to believe that a blue Ford Focus was seen in the area at the time of the shooting, it is described as being an older type Ford Focus, around the region of a 2000 plate.

"If anyone saw this car or can help us with any information that could help the investigation then please call me or one of the team on 101."
