Fitness group the Sedgley Striders want to put together a festival of walking but need money to hire an indoor facility.

The group formed in 2014 with the aim of getting people involved in more physical activity.

Starting as four experienced runners offering advice and training to beginners, the group has helped more than 20 people take part in their first 5k run and then complete the Black Country half marathon in July.

Group chairman David Bytheway said: "We aim to pass on our knowledge and experience to others and prove that health and fitness can be fun.

"Our main aim is to host a festival of running in 2016, with multiple distances around Dunstall Park Racecourse in an attempt to give an opportunity to people of all ages and abilities a chance to get into running.

"As the colder nights draw in, not only is running on the roads dangerous but conditions underfoot can mean our sessions are cancelled.

"We would love to be in a position to hire indoor facilities.

"The festival of running would be fantastic not only for our club but for the local community.

"As with all events, the cost is beyond our means at the moment."
