Costa Coffee on the Gateway Retail Park at the Churchbridge interchange has welcomed customers through its doors for the first time.

Animal characters were at the store to welcome customers at the weekend and food and drink samples were handed out to customers as part of the launch event.

Nicola McKenzie, store manager, said: "It has been brilliant to open our brand new Cannock drive-thru store and provide 15 to 20 new job opportunities for the local area.

"It's been amazing to have the characters at the store to launch the opening, creating a real family friendly environment."

SofaWorks opened on the same site in July and TKMaxx opened last month.

The Sofaworks store is the firm's biggest in the UK with a floorspace of 26,000 sq ft.

It is also the company's 32nd outlet and has created 15 full and part-time jobs.

Work began on the retail park more than nine months ago.

The site was expected to create around 100 jobs in total and is also home to a new Burger King. It is the latest development for the town, with a designer outlet planned at Mill Green.
