The 14-year-old wants to see a former supermarket store reopened to help bring people flooding in Cradley Heath.

The store has stood empty for months having previously been a carpet retailer.

Before that the shop unit was home to supermarket chain Kwik Save.

Morgan, who lives in nearby Netherton, is hitting the town centre gathering support for his bid to find a new tenant for the store.

He is planning a meeting with Halesowen and Rowley Regis MP James Morris over the coming weeks to discuss the issue.

Morgan, who attends Earls High School in Halesowen, already has the backing of ward councillors to have a new store come in.

"It has been empty for some time now since the carpet shop closed," said Morgan of Gloucester Road.

"The Kwiksave attracted so many people to come down to the high street everyday.

"It was popular and it is important as this is the biggest store left empty on the high street.

"Everyone I have spoken to would be happy to have another shop open there.

"It's one of the biggest shops on the high street and it's a shame to see it shut.

"I am confident that something can be down."

Mr Morris' office say they hope to establish a meeting shortly over the issue.

Ward Councillor Julie Webb is already among those supporting Morgan.

She said: "That shop has been lying vacant for a number of years and I fully support Morgan in everything he does."

Morgan's is the latest community campaign aiming to protect businesses in Cradley Heath.

Campaigners are aiming to protect the Haden Cross Inn, in Halesowen Road, for the future.

Revised plans to build a supermarket store on its car park have met with opposition from residents and regulars.

The group have held public meetings to gather support for their campaign against the planning application.

The campaign group successfully lobbied for the pub to be listed as an Asset of Community Value in a bid to safeguard it.
