Wolves players wing it in the kitchen for Nando's fundraiser
It is not everyday day a peri-peri chicken comes with a selfie with Wolves star Benik Afobe.
But exactly that was on the menu for customers during a special fundraiser at a Portuguese chicken restaurant in Wolverhampton this week.
The event, hosted by Wolves official mascot sponsors Nando's in aid of the Wolves Community Trust, saw players taking orders, cooking, and serving food.
Winger Tommy Rowe was on cooking duty while target man Benik Afobe helped serve the 80-or-so Wolves season ticket holders in attendance.
Other players at the event included Jordan Graham, Ethan Ebanks-Landell, Jed Wallace and Jack Price.
Price said: "It's for the community and the kids really, say hello to the fans and stuff. It's good for us to spend time with the mums and dads and kids to socialise.
"I'm not really a regular visitor to Nando's - I used to come a lot more when I wasn't in the first team and I would come before the games but not now it's all strict diets even though Nando's isn't that bad for you."
He added: "They get very excited a lot of the kids do, some of the parents as well to be fair, you'd be surprised.
"It's good you know, we don't get to see much of this side.
"It feels nice when people come and ask for pictures and you see the smiles on their faces."
Kylie Watson, aged 30 from Telford, has been a season ticket holder at Wolves for six years.
She said: "It's really exciting to see the players like this.
"It's my daughter's birthday tomorrow so this makes a great early birthday present."
Dave Anson, 29, from Wolverhampton, said: "It's really good value for money as normally Nando's costs more than this alone and you don't get the footballers."
Ryan Peters, 9 from Penn, was there with his dad Neil, 47.
They both agreed that Afobe was their favourite player as Ryan said 'he's nice and I like the way he plays'.
As well as the food, there was also a raffle which included prizes donated by the players such as a signed football and a pair of Nike white football boots.
Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for juniors and were available purely to season ticket holders.
It is hoped the event will raise more than £1,000 for the Wolves Community Trust.
Kerri Davies, membership manager at the club, said: "It's winner, winner chicken dinner as far as we're concerned."
