'Moranifesto': Caitlin launches charity single for refugees
Wolverhampton author and feminist Caitlin Moran was today releasing a single in aid of Syrian refugees.
Ms Moran announced her plans for the single at a literary event in London where she presented her Moranifesto – a collection of her thoughts on how to change the world.
The single has been recorded with her husband Peter Paphides, a rock critic.
She said: "I can't reveal everything yet, but last Thursday my husband Pete and I were watching the news in floods of tears, as everyone else did I'm sure. And we decided that we had to do something.
"So we decided to release a single in a week. So it's going to be out on Friday.
"I can't say anything other than that but anyone on social media on Friday is going to be aware of it."
The single will raise money for Save The Children, a charity that boasts Samantha Cameron as one of its ambassadors.
It is unknown if Ms Moran has worked on the single just with her husband or recruited a host of stars.
But she did admit that the whole process has left her shattered.
She said: "I haven't slept for four days which is why I'm drinking wine simply for energy. It's been informative.
"We're like a little Paula Yates and Bob Geldof at the moment."
Ms Moran has been busy on Twitter since the crisis broke, encouraging people, and more specifically the government, to do more to help the refugees.
She tweeted: "It's pretty shameful that I've seen more plans/action for helping the refugees online, from normal people, than from the government."
She has previously donated books for those in Calais and bought tents for the Syrian refugees.
Caitlin, a Times columnist and celebrated author, penned Raised By Wolves, with her sister Caroline, which was turned into a full six-part television series following a well-received pilot episode, which was screened in late 2013.
The siblings were home-schooled by their parents in a council house in Enville Road, Penn.
