Driver dies after falling ill at wheel in Bloxwich
A driver died after suffering heart failure at the wheel of his car in Walsall.
The vehicle crashed into railings at around 4pm on Willenhall Lane in Bloxwich.
Efforts were made to resuscitate the man but after 30 minutes he was confirmed dead at the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "When ambulance staff arrived they discovered the driver of the car, a man, was in cardiac arrest.
"Working as a team ambulance staff and the medic commenced advanced life support in an attempt to save the man.
"Sadly, after around 30 minutes of intense resuscitation efforts, the team couldn't restart his heart and the man was confirmed dead on scene."
Police, who said they believed the man had fallen ill at the wheel, shut the road for around an hour.
