Football thugs warned over match unrest
Football fans have been warned about their behaviour following incidents at Stourport Swifts' Walshes Meadow ground during a match last week.
Abusive behaviour and items being thrown onto the pitch from Hereford FC's large travelling support was reported on social media and football forums following the meeting between the two sides.
Around 1,000 Hereford supporters made the trip to Stourport, a record for the Midland Football League.
The former Fooball League side is attempting to make its way back up the pyramid after the old Hereford United team went bust, and the club's fans are likely to travel in large numbers this season to grounds not used to housing sizeable away followings.
Stourport won the game 2-0 and Hereford chairman John Hale issued a plea to fans following reports of a minority of supporters misbehaving.
Mr Hale added: "Following that game we were made aware of a couple of incidents that have left a sour taste, as it seems a very small minority among our travelling fans were involved in incidents that do not represent the image we are striving for as a club.
"I would like to state that we will be keeping a very close eye out for any repeat of these incidents, and will act to address them if we need to."
