Tom Watson backed by 174 constituency Labour parties
Tom Watson is well ahead of his rivals in the race to be Labour's deputy leader, following nominations from constituency parties.
The MP for West Bromwich East has more than double the nominations of any of the five contenders from constituency Labour parties (CLPs) according to the final returns.
And only three CLPs in the West Midlands backed anyone else.
CLP nominations closed yesterday and across the country 174 backed Mr Watson, 64 backed Caroline Flint, 32 supported Angela Eagle, 77 supported Stella Creasy and 20 backed Ben Bradshaw.
In the West Midlands it meant Aldridge-Brownhills, Dudley North, Dudley South, Halesowen and Rowley Regis, Warley, West Bromwich East, Wolverhampton North East, Wolverhampton South East, Wolverhampton South West, Wyre Forest.
He is also supported by North Shropshire CLP.
Ms Creasy only has the backing of Telford in the West Midlands while Ms Flint is supported by Rugby and Stratford-on-Avon.
