Man to appear in court over body found in Wolverhampton flat
A 24-year-old man will appear in court next month charged in connection with the death of a man in Wolverhampton 18 months ago.
Lewis Thornton of no fixed abode, will appear at Dudley Magistrates' Court on August 19 charged with the manslaughter of Stephen Phillips and robbery.
A 20-year-old female from Bilston has also been cautioned for obstructing a police investigation.
The move followed a long inquiry after the discovery of the body of Mr Phillips, a 54-year-old father-of-six, in his flat on Dudley Road, Blakenhall by his son Barry on March 12, 2014.
The death was initially treated as non-suspicious but a second post mortem examination found that Mr Phillips , a grandfather of four, died a result of a head injury.
Police had been called to the scene by the ambulance service but the initial post mortem examination was inconclusive.
A further forensic autopsy the following day found impact injuries and the cause of death was established as head injury.
