Teenager Reece Young is setting off on a 106-mile journey on August 28 in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.

The 14-year-old will walk for a whopping 12 hours a day, over three days, to reach the iconic Blackpool Tower.

He has taken on the challenge as part of his Duke of Edinburgh Scheme Bronze Award but admits he doesn't really like walking.

The Chase Terrace Technology College student was inspired to take on the challenge by former pupil and fellow Burntwood fundraiser Stephen Sutton, who helped to raise more than £5 million for the charity.

He said: "I have chosen to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust as being a teenager myself it's a cause close to my heart.

"Not only that, I had the pleasure and privilege of knowing the great and inspirational Stephen and have always wanted to raise money for this charity since meeting him."

The youngster, from May Close, set his fundraising target at £106, a pound to cover each mile but has already more than doubled that, so far raising more than £225.

The Year 9 student will set off at 6am from his school in Bridge Cross Road and will walk between 30 and 40 miles each day.

The youngster will be supervised and supported by a team of eight family and friends. Proud sister Zoe Jones, 30 said: "We are so very proud of him and his training is going amazing as well."
