A range of roles are being advertised at 15 shops in the region as the chain continues to thrive.

The company is on the lookout for 90 store assistants and 50 stock assistants, as well as four deputy store managers. New workers will be paid between £7.25 and £10.75 an hour.

Aldi's presence is continuing to grow in the West Midlands, with its latest new supermarket set to open on Wolverhampton Road, Oldbury, later this year. A new store will also be built on the site of the former King Arthur pub on the Birmingham New Road in Dudley.

The discount chain has enjoyed a boom in recent years with many shoppers choosing to turn their backs on the traditional supermarket giants such as Tesco and Sainsbury's.

Shoppers have flocked to the Aldi store which opened on the site of the landmark Goodyear site in Wolverhampton in 2011 as part of a major renovation of the site which included a new housing development.

Jobs are on offer there as well as other Wolverhampton stores in Goldthorn Hill Road and Howard Street as well as at Bentley Bridge in Wednesfield.

Roles are also been advertised in Cannock, Brownhills, Burntwood, Hednesford, Stafford, Dudley, Brierley Hill, Halesowen and the new store in Oldbury.

Candidates for the store and stock assistant will need to have numerical skills to carry out responsibilities such as till operation, stock management and merchandising.

Full training will be provided for new store assistants over a six-week period and roles will vary between 15 and 30 hours a week, with salaries starting at £8.15 per hour.

Stock assistant roles start from 10 hours per week, with a starting salary of £7.25 per hour and 28 days annual leave.

For its deputy store manager roles, Aldi is looking for people with a 'proven track record of managing teams of eight people or more'. Those roles start from 20 hours per week, with a starting salary of £9.15 per hour rising to £10.75 per hour, plus £3.95 extra per hour when managing the store.

Aldi's regional managing director Marius Manolescu said: "Our existing stores are continuing to grow in popularity, which has created an immediate need for store staff across the West Midlands. We also have plans to open a number of stores in the area in the coming year, and we require store staff to support this expansion."

"We are looking to attract applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds, including supermarket, fast-food and clothing chains, who can demonstrate relevant retail experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment."
