Rider Melissa Brand, a 35-year-old investment analyst, said: "It was probably the most technical day that we'll have, so it was important to keep everyone together and rolling through those cobbled stages.

"It was pretty challenging, but knowing we've completed the longest stage of the tour has set the benchmark. We're all helping each other and learning to work together."

Geoff and the team are trying to raise £1 million for Cure Leukaemia. Drugs cheat Lance Armstrong will join them for two days next week.
