1D numberplate set to sell for up to £30,000 at Stourbridge auction

One Direction fans with deep pockets are in for a treat. A rare'1 DUK' registration plate from a 1960s Ford Zephyr is expected to fetch up to £30,000 at Stourbridge auction.

The plate is going under the hammer next month.

It will be star attraction at the sale staged at Fieldings Auctioneers' Stourbridge headquarters on July 4.

Director Nick Davies said: "It took some time to realise the significance to One Direction fans.

"The plate – complete with the retention document – has been in private hands for several years. The vendor, who no longer drives, hopes that it will appeal to a younger generation of One Direction fans."

For many years the plate adorned a Ford Zephyr, a model that ceased production in 1972.
