Eight plead guilty to Sandwell drugs crimes
Eight people arrested as part of a Sandwell-wide crime crackdown have pleaded guilty to a string of offences.
All appeared before Birmingham Crown Court on Monday
Unemployed Amandeep Kaur Gill, 23, of St Marks Road, Smethwick was arrested in dawn raids on April 21. She pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin. She was remanded in custody awaiting sentencing.
Unemployed Wendy Gibbons, 41, of Beacon View Road, Charlemont Farm, West Bromwich was arrested in dawn raids on April 21. She pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin. She was remanded in custody awaiting sentencing.
Unemployed Stuart Lawley, 28, of Young Street, West Bromwich was arrested in dawn raids on April 21. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin. He was remanded in custody awaiting sentencing.
Unemployed Stacey Mansell, 38, of The Green, Darlaston, was arrested in dawn raids on April 21. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin. He was remanded in custody awaiting sentencing.
Factory worker Jasbir Singh Rai, 47, of Queens Road, Tipton was arrested in dawn raids on April 21. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin. He was remanded in custody awaiting sentencing.
Unemployed Daquarn Hamil-Smith, 20, of Rollason Road, Erdington, Birmingham was arrested in dawn raids on April 21. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin. He was released on court bail awaiting sentencing.
Unemployed Jacob Fogoe, 22, of Wyrley Road, Witton, Birmingham was arrested on June 9 when he attended Smethwick police station. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply crack cocaine. He was conditionally bailed awaiting sentencing.
Unemployed Nico Thomas, 23, of Inchcape Avenue, Handsworth Wood, Birmingham was arrested in dawn raids on April 21. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply crack cocaine. He was remanded in custody to awaiting sentencing.
Chief Inspector Jane Parry, from Sandwell Police, said: "Local officers have worked long and hard to develop Spring Safer Six.
"The aim of this intelligence-led operation was to use the suspicions of local people ? shared with police via our 101 number or the Crimestoppers charity ? to target those who were causing misery in their neighbourhood.
"As a result of that information and the efforts of my officers, we have been able to secure the arrest of 63 people and the charge of 60.
"We are now beginning to see the outcome of their appearances at court with their sentences hotly anticipated."
The eight add to five people already arrested, charged and who have pleaded guilty of similar offences as part of Spring Safer Six.
Jeanette Harrison, 48, of Willow Drive, Cradley Heath appeared at Warley Magistrates Court on June 8 where she was handed a community order, ordered to pay £85 in court costs and was given a 14 day curfew after pleading guilty to producing cannabis at her first appearance on May 8.
Gary Fletcher, 37, of Cumberland Road, West Bromwich appeared at Warley Magistrates Court on May 14, where he pleaded guilty to producing cannabis. He will be sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Jonathan Rose, 32, Wylde Cescent in Rowley Regis pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods at his first appearance at Birmingham Magistrates Court on May 13. He received a £95 fine with £100 court costs.
Ashley Howen, 29, Lion Farm in Oldbury was sentenced to 18 weeks behind bars and fined £150 for handling stolen goods and theft. He was also handed a criminal behaviour order banning him from associating with Jon Rose and entering parts of Rowley Regis when released from jail. This will be in force until further notice. He was sentenced at Warley Magistrates Court on May 27, having pleading guilty to two counts of handling stolen goods and an unrelated theft matter at his first appearance on May 13.
Darren Attwell (aka Darren Vincent) , 31, of Southey Close in Willenhall was handed a 12 month community order, 12 month supervision order and a six month drug rehabilitation order. Attwell was also slapped with a three month-long curfew, a £60 victim surcharge fine and ordered to pay £145 costs. He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court for sentence on June 8, having pleading guilty at his first appearance on May 15.
