Dozens of trains delayed after equipment failure
Around 80 trains going to and from Wolverhampton Railway Station were delayed this morning because of a points failure.
A technical failure on the track at the Cranes Street junction was reported just after 7am causing 12 trains to be cancelled or partly cancelled, and dozens more to be delayed.
Points are sections of track that move, acting as junctions and allowing trains to move from one line to another.
Rachel Groves, a spokeswoman for Network Rail, said: "A points failure at the Cranes Street junction, south of Wolverhampton, was reported at 7.05am meaning delays and cancellations to trains around the area.
"We apologise to passengers for any inconvenience caused. Our engineers have been working to fix the problem."
It was hoped the technical problem would be resolved at about 11am.
