A family escaped a fierce fire which ripped through the second floor of their home leaving it severely damaged.
The blaze happened with two people in the house in Hagley Monday night just after 6.20pm.
The pair, one believed to be an elderly man, managed to evacuate themselves out of the building before calling 999.
They then watched in horror as the fire spread into other areas of the semi-detached house in Long Compton Drive.
Pictures released show the first floor gutted with items inside left blackened by the fire.
The fire also spread to an adjourning property causing a smoke damage inside.
Fire crews from Stourbridge and Kidderminster attended the severe blaze and used four breathing apparatuses and two hose reel jets to put the fire under control.
A specialist crew from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service then attended to investigate the cause of the fire - which still remains unclear.
One of the neighbours who did not wish to be named, whose home suffered smoke damage following the fire, said she was relieved nobody had been hurt.
She said: "The main thing which concerns me is that nobody was hurt.
"We were out safely and that's the main thing.
"We all got out very quickly and the fire brigade were quick and did a brilliant job.
"We've got no idea what might have caused it at this stage. It all happened so quickly."
Station Commander Phil Griffiths from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said the damage to the house was extensive.
"The occupants are clearly upset as anybody else would be in that situation.
"But they did all the right things when the fire broke out by leaving the property straight away and then calling for emergency services to arrive.
"Luckily nobody was injured.
"There has been severe damage to the first floor bedroom and the remainder of the first floor leading up to the roof.
"The smoke damage has penetrated both houses.
"The family have been looked after by neighbours. Everybody has been pulling together and been showing great community spirit."
Firefighters remained on the site on Tuesday morning to speak with the insurers of the property.
