Football fans have rallied to support Villa midfielder Jack Grealish after pictures showing him apparently worse for wear while on holiday in Tenerife were published online.
The 19-year-old could find himself in hot water with claret and blues boss Tim Sherwood after the snaps - taken by a fellow holidaymaker - showed a young man lying on the road outside an apartment block.
Briony King, who posted the pictures on her Twitter page, claimed Grealish was "paralytic".
But she has been inundated with angry messages from Villa fans, defending Grealish and criticising her for sharing the images.
"@JackGrealish1 had a great night opposite my apartment in the wonderful tenerife," she said.
Today the club said: "The club is aware of the photographs of Jack Grealish currently circulating.
"We will be meeting with the player but any action will remain an internal matter.
"There will be no further comment from the club."
Grealish had been photographed wearing a similar t-shirt to the person in the picture. He arrived on the holiday island with friends last Thursday, and had tweeted that he was looking forward to spending 'five days with the lads'.
The youngster, who burst onto the scene last season when he made 24 appearances or Villa, later appeared to reply to the speculation about the pictures with a tweet of his own, saying: "Me n my best pal. I'm, on the floor apparently".
Grealish found himself in trouble earlier this year when a video appeared of him inhaling nitrous oxide (laughing gas).
Neither Grealish nor the club have yet commented on the images.
