The collision between a lorry and a car on the A34 High Street, Bloxwich, blocked the road at the junction with Samuel Street, causing problems for motorists.
Emergency services were called to the scene just after 8.40am. Three people were hurt, not believed to be seriously.
They included the driver of the South Staffordshire Water flat-bed truck who was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be cut out by firefighters.
He was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital, along with a man and a woman - both in their sixties - who were in the car, for precautionary checks.
The road reopened at 10.30am.
