IN PICTURES: Snappers' pics show spring animal magic
Piglets, lambs, chicks – and even monkeys – are among the scenes of spring wildlife that readers have captured across the Midlands.
The photos have been flooding in to Star Witness on the Express & Star website – and the best each month will win £100.
Peter York took a stunning and intimate close-up image of a baby monkey at Monkey Forest in Trentham. With its wrinkled face and eyes and tiny hands, the cute Barbary Macaque has been melting the hearts of visitors to the popular attraction. And Mr York, of Bilston, said he never expected to get such a good shot.
He said: "I love the expression.
"There's lots of personality there. As soon as I took it I knew it was a good one."
Meanwhile Tim Botfield took the opportunity to get a picture of a fox that has become a regular in his garden in Salop Drive, Oldbury. He has been feeding the animal during winter and said it appears most days.
He added: "She's becoming tamer by the day and hopefully she'll be feeding out of our hands soon."
Steven Kendrick, of Walsall, pulled over at Stubbers Green near Aldridge for a walk when he saw, and snapped, a group of goslings running around in the grass.
And among the highlights of a string of photos submitted by Linda Visser, of Wednesfield, were lambs on a hillside in Dovedale in the Peak District, and pigs at her friend's farm in Burntwood.
She said: "We have friend that breeds chickens on a farm so we went to see them and noticed he had got some pigs as well.
"We often go on days out and I always try to get plenty of photos. I love it. It's quite difficult to get them sometimes as the animals are moving around so you get a sense of achievement when you do."
