Warning to Halesowen drivers after woman dragged and suffers head injury in carjacking
A woman suffered a nasty head injury after she was dragged trying to stop a carjacking in Halesowen, three hours after another incident.
The woman's white Hyundai Velostar was shunted from behind as she pulled up at the junction of Narrow Lane and Firth Park Crescent in Halesowen.
When she got out to talk to the other driver, someone leapt into her seat.
As the woman tried to stop the carjacking she was dragged a short distance, suffering a head injury.
Three hours earlier, at 2.30pm on Tuesday, May 26 a white van shunted a silver Volkswagen Golf from behind at the junction of Lansdowne Road with Hurst Green Road. When the driver went to speak to the van driver another man jumped into his car and drove off.
The woman's Hyundai was found later the same day in Ashwood Close in Oldbury.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed either theft.
Detective Constable Gareth Homer said: "At this stage, due to the time and location of the offences, we are investigating the possibility the two thefts may be linked and we are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened and can offer any further description of the vehicles or those involved.
"We understand people may be concerned by these thefts and I would like to reassure local people we are doing all we can to find those responsible, including CCTV inquiries and using number plate recognition technology.
"However we would urge people to be vigilant and if you are involved in a crash, make sure you remove your keys from the ignition and lock your car – under no circumstances leave the car open with the keys in it."
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
